This International Exhibition of Photography has been awarded recognition by PSA, the world’s largest patron of international photographic exhibitions.  Acceptances received by PSA members in approved divisions of this exhibition are eligible for PSA Star Ratings, listing in the worldwide PSA Who’s Who of Photography and credited toward the PSA Distinctions PPSA and EPSA.

The Arizona Photographic Society will accept digital images with these recommendations: all PSA Photojournalism rules will apply. You may enter a total of eight (8) images: 4 digital images in General PJ and may include Human Interest images; 4 digital images of Human Interest only.  These images must include a human person(s).

Send entry form electronically found at www.apsocietyaz.com  and fee by mail. CDs for images may be used (no return by AZPS) but will be destroyed.  Send your images by email attachment to apsociety@cox.net

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
This exhibition is open to anyone, however an entry may be rejected when the sponsoring organization, in its reasonable discretion, believes the entry does not conform to exhibition rules and conditions.
  1. Each digital section’s entry is limited to four (4) images.  Format: JPEG, (72dpi) and sRGB for best projection.  Horizontal:  1024, Vertical: 768, 350 kb pixel max and should be flattened.
  2. Entries must originate as photographs (images-captures of objects via light sensitivity) made by the entrant on photographic emulsion or acquired digitally.  All images must be original and may not incorporate elements projected by anyone else.  Follow PJ Divisional restrictions.  Artwork or computer graphics created by the entrant may NOT be incorporated in the image.
  3. By submitting an entry, the entrant certifies the work as their own and permits the sponsor to reproduce all or part of the entered material free of charge for display and/or publication in media related to the exhibition.  This may include low resolution posting on the PSA-PJ web site.  The exhibition assumes no liability for any misuse of copyright.
  4. The same image may be entered in only one section and not used in a previous AZPS-PJ Exhibition.
  5. CDs will not be returned but will be destroyed.

PHOTOJOURNALISM:
Photojournalism entries shall consist of pictures with informative content and emotional impact, including human interest, documentary and spot news.  The journalistic value of the photograph shall be considered over pictorial quality.  In the interest of credibility, photographs that misrepresent the truth, such as manipulation to alter the subject matter, or situations that are set up for the purpose of photography, are unacceptable in Photojournalism competition.
HUMAN INTEREST:

Human Interest images depict a person or persons in an interactive, emotional, or unusual situation, excluding sports action. See the file for Human Interest.

DIGITAL IMAGES:

This Exhibition will accept digital images with these recommendations: all PSA Photojournalism rules will apply and you will need to name your files and size your images according to the directions as presented on pages: File Name and Image Size. Digital images will be judged on an electronic projector..

 
            All care and precaution will be exercised but no responsibility can be assumed for loss or damage while in the possession of the Arizona Photographic society, nor while in transit.  Your submission constitutes acceptance of these conditions.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY:

The APSociety Digital Exhibition is open to all photographers around the world. However, an entry may be rejected when the sponsoring organization or its agent, in its reasonable discretion, believes the entry does not conform to exhibition rules and conditions.

Submission of entries implies the acceptance of all conditions. The entrant must be the owner of all rights of the submitted works. Entry is not limited to images created and or modified digitally. Images may also be acquired and/or modified traditionally and then scanned. The images must be submitted as Electronic files by Email or removable disk media, i.e. CD-ROM.

By virtue of submitting an entry, the entrant certifies the work as his own and permits the sponsors to reproduce all or part of the entered material free of charge for publication on a CD-ROM catalog, on an Internet Website and/or display in media related to the exhibition. The exhibition assumes no liability for any misuse of copyright by the entrant. Any image that was previously accepted in the APSociety Digital Exhibition may not be re-entered regardless of its title.

COMPETITION DIVISION: 

Electronic Imaging Division with PSA EID Star & Who’s Who Recognition.

SECTIONS:
There will be two Sections:

A. COLOR GENERAL
B. COLOR CREATIVE (Altered Reality)
ENTRY FORM:

The Entry Form must be submitted electronically. The Entry Form is available on the Website http://apsocietyaz.com

Instructions for filling out the Entry Form are included on the Website. The Entry Form must be filled out on the Web Site and sent by using the “SUBMIT” button at the bottom of the Entry Form. Your images should be sent in a separate Email (or by Postal mail). A list of all the entries received will be published on the Salon Web Site. The status of the entry fee and the files received will be listed. The list will be updated at least weekly.

Please check the status of your entries on the Web Site about a week after sending so they can be resent if necessary.

ENTRY IMAGE FILES:

The Images must be sent separately from the Entry Form. The images must be in JPG format. A maximum of 4 images may be submitted per Section. Images can be submitted by the following two methods:

A. Email (PREFERRED METHOD) The images must be in JPG format. Please do not Zip the files. See Paragraph 6 for instructions on how to name your JPG Electronic Files. Send to apsociety@cox.net The images can be sent one at a time or in groups of four for each section, depending on your Internet Provider and Modem Speed. When sending your images by Email, your message should say how many images are attached and should show your full name.

B. Postal Mail on Disk. Images can also be submitted on CD-ROM. The image files and media will not be returned. The files must be in JPG format. See paragraph 6 for instructions on how to name your JPG Electronic Files. If sending images on disk, please include your entry fee in the same package.

IMAGE FILE NAME: (HOW TO NAME YOUR JPG IMAGE FILES) 

The APSOCIETY has two sections:

A. Color General – Open
B. Color Creative – Altered Reality

The appropriate section letter (A, B) must be used as part of the Electronic File Name. Your surname and the initial of your first name will be used as the first part of the Electronic File Name as shown below:
Surname-X-####-YZ.jpg

Surname is your Family name. “X” is the first character (Initial) in your given name. #### is the last four digits of your phone number.

Y is the Section letter (A, B) & Z is the image number (1-4) of the entry.

Example:
The following four images were submitted in Section A, by John Smith, Phone No. 727-784-1234

smith-j-1234-A3.jpg    smith-j-1234-A4.jpg

These FILE NAMES must be identical to those that you enter on the Entry Form and must contain your Surname as shown in the above Example. This naming convention is necessary to assure that files from different makers will have unique names, and that each image is matched to the correct maker. Filenames are not case sensitive.

PLEASE DO NOT USE YOUR TITLES
FOR YOUR JPG IMAGE FILE NAMES.
There are separate lines provided on the Entry Form for your TITLES.

ENTRY FILE DIMENSIONS AND SIZE: 

The required maximum horizontal dimension is 1024 pixels and the maximum vertical dimension is 768 pixels. Smaller Images are acceptable. If the Images do not meet the file criteria, the Salon committee will try to notify the entrant by a posting on the Salon Web Site so that the images can be resent. If this is not possible, the Salon committee will try to resolve the problem.

Please keep your compressed jpg image file size under 350KB. Larger file sizes could be rejected by the computer operating system.

JUDGING: 

Judging will be done by projecting images on a screen with an Electronic Projector at a resolution of 1024 X 768 set to 16.7 million colors. In each section the entrant’s four images will be distributed throughout four rounds of judging.

Three judges will be used with a score from each judge ranging from 2 to 9. The sum of the three scores will be used to determine acceptance. Each Image will have a Minimum score 6, Maximum Score 27.

Entries received without fee will not be judged and will not be sent any results. Fee must be received by closing date.

ACCEPTANCE RESULTS: 

A listing of acceptances and awards will be posted on the Internet at the Web Site: apsocietyaz.com for a minimum of three months

CD CATALOG: 

The CD-ROM Catalog, showing acceptances and images, will be mailed to each entrant.
